A town in the picturesque county of Devon, Okehampton has a small population of 7,000. Okehampton Castle was first built in the 11th century and its ruins are still standing. Okehampton retains much of its historical significance because many buildings are different from each other due to their age.

Any rambler will appreciate Okehampton's close proximity to Dartmoor especially as they can explore over 360 square miles of unspoilt moorland. They may also appreciate the Museum of Dartmoor Life which is housed in a 19th century mill that also has a waterwheel. Although Okehampton's railway station closed down in the 1970's, it was recently reopened a few years ago and it also has a small museum as well. Passenger services are operated but only on a few days of the week.
