West Malling is a historic market town in Kent, which thanks to its proximity to London has become a popular commuter town. It is filled with beautiful old buildings including St Leonard's tower, a Norman keep that was built in around 1080 and Prior House, a medieval hall which was once a leper hospital.
West Malling has great rail and road links with London and houses about 40,000 people. Golf lovers are well served with West Malling Golf Club which boasts stunning views of the North Downs. Every week a market is held, making the most of its typical medieval market town structure.
West Malling is proud of its military past and Guy Gibson, leader of The Dambusters, was stationed at RAF West Malling in 1941. He was later awarded the Victoria Cross. Now the base has been converted into a mixture of residential and office blocks.
