Volvo's flagship SUV is getting on a bit now - it's been in production since 2003 with only minor revisions. Once Volvo's best selling vehicle - the XC90 makes for a great family car. With two "occasional" seats in the boot (taking the total up to seven), testers loved its practicality and size. Being a Volvo, safety and quality was paramount - so the XC90 should make for an attractive second-hand buy. Engine wise, the diesels have been the most popular choice, even though some have found them to be underpowered. A petrol V8 was available for a time, but its thirst put many people off.
