For football fans, the modern county of Staffordshire currently has three professional clubs. Founded in 1863, Stoke City is one of the oldest professional football clubs in existence, most recently reaching their first FA cup final in 2011.Port Vale and Burton Albion are also located in Staffordshire, both playing in football league two. Cricket is also popular in the area, with Staffordshire featuring as one of the minor counties of English and Welsh cricket and most famously producing international cricketers Sydney Barnes and Dominic Cork, both of who went on to represent England.
