With a population of 22,000, this Staffordshire market town was once a former mining town during the 1950's. Although the pit has closed down, Rugeley has experienced significant transformation in recent years where new housing has been constructed.
Rugeley hosts regular weekly markets and it has a theatre as well. Many well-known shops are on its high street and several sports clubs are in Rugeley too such as Etching Tennis Club. Exercise fanatics can also enjoy a heritage trail which connects it to Cannock Chase. With signposts explaining Rugeley's history, any visitor can learn much about this market town.
Rugeley also has good travel links. Major roads such as the A460 and A51 roads connect Rugeley to nearby Cannock and Lichfield and have been successful in easing congestion. Therefore, travelling to and from Rugeley is no longer stressful.
