The Scenic was launched in 1996, and was the first of the "mid-size" MPVs to be based on an existing "C-segment" platform - in this case, the Megane. The car's popularity has lead to other manufacturers adopting similar strategies, Ford, for example, are now key players with their Focus-based C-Max. Currently in its third iteration, the Scenic has got all of the bases covered. It's got tonnes of space for passengers and luggage, it's well built and decent value for money. The first generation was even named European Car of the Year in 1997, beating the Ford Ka into second.
