Collectively the historic farm buildings in Purfleet are called the High House which was used as a farm for hundreds of years and includes houses and barns, one of the best dovecotes, stables, a coachman's cottage, a workshop, cart sheds, granary and inner and outer walled gardens. The farm has also been called Le Vineyards because grapes used for making wines were grown here. The Royal Opera house was also opened in the High House to facilitate operas and ballets followed by Costume Centre and The Backstage Centre for creative and cultural skills.
Purfleet Football Club plays in the town, which also has 7 leisure centres and a country club.
