The 307's seven year lifespan came to an end in 2008 with the introduction of the 308. It was awarded the fabled European Car of the Year Award in 2002 thanks to its functional interior and easy drive. The 307 "CC" (Peugeot speak for "convertible") even enjoyed a brief career as a rally car, piloted by double World Champion Marcus Grönholm. An estate, called the "SW", was also available, as was a four-door saloon in selected markets. The 307 was revised in 2005 with Peugeot's new corporate face, and a host of other cosmetic changes.
