A picturesque town, Penzance is the most westerly major location in Cornwall. Around 300 miles away from London, Penzance is situated in Mount's Bay and has a warmer climate than what most of Britain experiences. With a population of about 21,000, Penzance was first mentioned in the 13th century.
Today, Penzance has a harbour which has been popular for generations. Markets are held in Penzance and it has a rich tourism trade as a direct result. Penzance hosts many festivals every year and has held music festivals throughout its history. It also has an independently-run cinema which is one of the oldest in the United Kingdom to be continuously used.
Penzance has had many famous residents such as model Jean Shrimpton and comedienne Sue Perkins. With good travel links such as a railway station and being only five hours away from London by car, Penzance remains a very desirable location.
