County town of Norfolk and population of almost 200,000, Norwich was once the 2nd largest city in the UK (but that was almost 1,000 years ago!). Norwich suffered extensive bomb damage during World War II, affecting large parts of the old city centre and Victorian terrace housing around the centre. Norwich is home to the University of East Anglia, The Millenium Library, The Norwich Arts Centre and the 300 seater Norwich Playhouse.
2 interesting stats about Norwich - i) In November 2006 the city was voted the greenest in the UK ii) According to the 2001 census, 27.8% of respondents in Norwich stated that they were of "no religion", the highest percentage in England.
Without a doubt, Norwich's most famous son is Admiral Horatio Nelson.
