The B-Class is essentially a family hatchback with MPV-pretensions. The first generation was launched in 2005, and the second in 2011 - both are based on the A-Class. Early reviews weren't overwhelmingly positive - testers thought the B-Class was stylish, and roomy on the inside, but it wasn't great to drive and had an appalling ride. The latest generation suffers from many of the same pitfalls - even if it is better looking than its forbearer. It's expensive too, especially next to cars like Ford's C-Max.
