Located in Hertfordshire, Letchworth Garden City is home to 33,600 people and owes its name to the architect Ebenezer Howard, who designed the 'garden city' layout in 1903, incorporating elements of the country alongside city life. As one of the world's first New Towns and the first 'garden city', Letchworth Garden City inspired a new generation of projects around the world in countries including Australia, Germany and Finland.
Walking round Letchworth Garden City is a pleasure, from the Arena Parade of independent shops, to the historical 1922 covered shopping arcade including an old fashioned traditional sweet shop, to the Garden Square and regular farmers markets.
