The Kia Rio, which is now in its third incarnation, was first launched in 2000 as a cheap n' cheerful hatchback. It was incredibly spacious for the money (it looked more like a mini-estate than a hatch), but was lacking any dynamic ability or interior quality. But hey, it was cheap - so who cares? The second generation looked far more conventional, but continued with Kia's mainstay of offering a whole lotta' car for not much cash. The latest model, which was only launched in 2011, is both spacious and stylish. It's a much better car than before, but still nowhere near as accomplished as a Fiesta.
