It can make its owner purr with delight. The Jaguar is a beautiful British brand coming from humble origins in the Swallow Sidecar company in 1922. It has gone from motorcycle sidecars to D-type racers in the Sixties to the XJ220 supercars of the Nineties. It has come up with many a car legend on the way. The E-type was announced in 1961 and sold well in the US, the Xj6 in 1968 was renowned for its character while the XJ-S created lots of ride lust well into the eighties. The start of the nineties saw the introduction of the XK8, the XKR sports coupés, convertibles, and the mid-sized S-TYPE sports and today there is the XJ Ultimate, while in Jeremy Clarkson's school of thinking, there's what he calls the "J A A A G!"
