Halstead is a farm town located in the Braintree District of Essex, England. It has a population of 11,906 and is near to Colchester and Sudbury in the Colne Valley.
The St Andrew's church dominates the High Street as well as the Halstead Public Gardens which are renowned for their floral displays. There is also an antique centre which is housed by the Townsford Mill. Other historic landmarks include the Moyns Park- a Grade l Listed Elizabethan Country House, Hume's Bakery, the Empire Theatre on Butler Road which hosts bingo nights and the Halstead library which was also housed at a technical school.
The winner of the X Factor- Matt Cardle, Steve Lamacq- Radio 2 DJ and the electronic dance music producer- Curbi are residents of Halstead. The town also homes Halstead Town Football Club, Halstead Cricket Club and a rugby club called the Halstead Templers R.F.C.
