Grays, located close to the M25 motorway in Essex, has a population of 37,000. Transport into London is convenient and frequent, and area property is reasonably priced. It's also a relatively walkable community.
The major attractions and entertainment venues in and around Grays are Tilbury Fort, which has guarded the entry to the Thames for more than 400 years, Grays Beach Riverside Park, and shopping mecca Lakeside, with plenty of restaurants, a cinema and more than 300 diverse shops. Thurrock Museum in Grays focuses on local history, with an emphasis on Queen Elizabeth I's Armada speech made at Tilbury. Coalhouse Fort, in nearby East Tilbury, is an authentic Victorian fort built to defend the UK against any French attacks.
