With a population of 60,000, Farnborough is located in north-east Hampshire near the M3 motorway, with easy access to London and Gatwick Airport. The town is most famous for its biennial Farnborough International Airshow, a week-long trade show for the aerospace industry, where international deals are brokered, and spectators can watch aviation spectacles performed by professional pilots.
Area attractions besides the Airshow include Farnborough Air Sciences Trust aviation museum and Farnborough Abbey. The monks at the Abbey, in addition to doing traditional charity work, also run a farm and apiary and a printing and publishing house, for which they bind all their own books.
Residents say Farnborough has more than a few quality pubs with regular live music, despite its overall quiet nightlife. Where retail and entertainment are concerned, the town has a decent array of shops and cinema in the centre.
