Located between Southampton and Plymouth in Hampshire, Fareham has a population of roughly 57,000. It's easy to commute into Southampton and Plymouth from Fareham with good train links to both cities, as well as to Cardiff and London. The town's close proximity to both countryside and the coastline is an added bonus.
Fareham has been called the 'Virtual London' because of the many international companies that have taken up residence in its business parks, which cater to IT and Telecommunications sectors. In addition, the IBM offices in Plymouth are close to Fareham.
Major attractions of the town include the Royal Armouries Museum, open-air markets on Mondays, and farmers' markets on Saturdays. Fareham Shopping Centre has over 90 High Street shops. Just outside the town can be found medieval Portchester castle, and a short distance away is the Forest of Bere, where Saxon, Norman, and modern English kings all used to hunt. Countryside horse-riding and cycle routes are also popular.
