Evesham is a market town in Worcestershire, located in the Cotswolds. The town is surrounded by the Vale of Evesham, a region famous for growing fruit and vegetables, and particularly beautiful in the spring, when vast orchards of plum and apple trees blossom in the town and surrounding countryside.
The River Avon loops around the town in a peninsula, and makes the town susceptible to flooding. Fishing and boating are allowed on the Avon, and the town hosts an annual River Festival, where boats converge on the water for a light show and fireworks.
Other sites of interest include the iconic Evesham Bell Tower: the only remnant of Evesham Abbey, a landmark building which would have been bigger than St Paul's Cathedral had it not been destroyed by a battle in 1265. Famous names from Evesham include actor and comedian Alistair McGowan.
