At just over 12 miles from central London, Enfield is one of London's largest boroughs and is home to plenty of wide green spaces, park and farmland. While it borders Haringay, Barnet and Waltham Forest, this lush and inviting environment gives Enfield the impression of being much further from London than it actually is. That said, it is well served by the nearby M25 and five train lines, including Piccadilly which can deliver its passengers to Heathrow.
While large parts of Enfield are residential, the town itself is quite well contained with no need to travel to the city if one did not want to. The major redevelopment of the Edmonton Green Shopping Centre also encompassed new houses, hotels and offices. Other major shopping centres are found in Southgate, Palmers Green and Cockfosters.
