Egham is a pretty, typically suburban commuter town in Surrey with leafy roads and lots of green open spaces. The town has a population of about 6,000 people who can travel to Waterloo in central London in 30 minutes by train. Egham features in the Domesday book nearly 1,000 years ago as Egeham and the Magna Carta was sealed nearby just 120 years later.
Its main attraction is its proximity to Thorpe Park, a theme park, but it also has a selection of sports clubs to appeal to fitness fans. There are also many nice walks to take along the River Thames' banks, or in the historic meadows.
Egham has lots for the community to get involved with, including a chamber of commerce, a rotary society and flower guild. Hilda Braid, who played Nana Moon in Eastenders, was a long term resident of Egham, and the area is frequented by celebrity types who enjoy the town's beauty.
