East Kilbride, a Lanarkshire town of around 74,000 people, lies 10 miles south-east of Glasgow. The town's links to the M74 and M77 and 20-minute rail service to Glasgow make it popular with commuters. Glasgow International Airport is nearby.
Once a village, East Kilbride is now Scotland's sixth largest town. The winding, cobbled streets of the original village are supplemented by extensive new development. East Kilbride has six shopping malls with all the major national brands, while there's a good mix of smaller, speciality shops in the Village Shopping Centre. The town boasts a selection of restaurants and pubs.
Local attractions include the Dollan Aqua Centre, the Arts Centre, Stewartfield Loch, the natural beauty of Calderglen Park and James Hamilton Heritage Park and the thrills and spills of M&D's theme park. The nearby Peel Park business campus aims to foster economic development in East Kilbride.
