Cranbrook is a traditional market village, having first been granted a charter in 1290 to hold markets on the high street. A monthly Farmers' Market is still held, offering locals and visitors alike the opportunity to buy both fresh produce and handicrafts. Cranbrook is surrounded by orchards and farmland and still plays home to one working windmill, the Union Mill which is a grade one listed building that offers educational and group visits throughout the year.
With a population nearing 7,000, Cranbrook is home to variety of schools, most notably Cranbrook School. Cranbrook school is a co-educational day and boarding school that is set on a 75 acre plot that includes a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, an observatory and an AstroTurf pitch.
Crime is low in Cranbrook and there is an enormous amount of green spaces available to the public.
