Colwyn Bay is a town and seaside resort in the Conwy County Borough in North Wales. The town was established as a small parish in 1844, being nothing more than a small group of houses and farm, which today is the Old Colwyn district. The town has expanded to become the second-largest community and business centre in North Wales as well as the 16th largest town in Wales. The town is home to many notable people such as soap star William Roache who plays Ken Barlow on Coronation Street.
The main landmark, the Victoria Pier has been closed off to the general public since 2009 when a dispute between Conwy County Borough Council and the Pier owner led to the owner becoming bankrupt. However, there are many medieval houses standing, and in ruins in the area.
