The Berlingo is Citroën's take on a van-based "leisure activity vehicle", like the Peugeot Partner or Renault Kangoo. The very first Berlingos went on sale in 1996 for the price of a small hatchback - the Citroën was ideal for families on a budget as it boasted a cavernous interior. There was no disguising its commercial origins though, some of the engines were rough and its looks were hardly stylish. The current model, that was launched in 2008, boasts the same advantages. It's big, yet surprisingly decent to drive, and the space to cost ratio is one of the best.
