Caterham is a great British brand known for extreme road cars and racers. The lightweight Caterham Seven or Caterham 7 is its most famous car. However like many GB car makes it has sought investment. In 2010, Malaysian airline owner Tony Fernandes took over the brand and reminded everyone of his success with takeovers. After all, the multi-millionaire helped bring back the Lotus name to Formula One. Yet while car fanatics were buzzing in chatrooms that the make might lose its identity, Fernandes' vision is to develop the brand through the Caterham Seven as it is an untouchable brand. The Seven with the F1 platform will see the expansion and development of its road car to new territories particularly in South East Asia.
