Found in the south west of Wales, Carmarthen is apparently the birthplace of King Arthur. Carmarthen was once controlled by the Roman Empire and is one of the oldest towns in Wales. An existing Roman amphitheatre still remains in Carmarthen as well.
Today, Carmarthen hosts many speedway events and also has two rugby teams. Carmarthen's football team plays in the Welsh Premier League and many forms of leisure are there as well such as two golf courses. An athletics team is also in Carmarthen and many famous people have lived here. The professional snooker player Matthew Stevens comes from Carmarthen and writer Bryan Rogers was born there too.
Travelling from Carmarthen to other popular areas is very easy. Its railway station has links to Swansea, Cardiff, Tenby and also Pembroke.
