The Lancashire town of Bury in Greater Manchester is home to around 60,000 people. There is a tram link to Manchester, while the M60, M61 and M66 are all within easy reach.
Bury's famous open-air market has traded for over 700 years and attracts thousands of bargain hunters every week. The nearby Mill Gate Centre provides even more shopping opportunities.
The town boasts music and drama venue The Met, as well as an art Gallery and museum, a transport museum and the Lancashire Fusiliers Museum. Steam trains chug along a stretch of the East Lancashire Railway. Three leisure centres operate in the town, with four more in the surrounding area. Bury FC play at the Gigg Lane ground.
Bury has five parks. Burrs Country Park lies close to the heart of town, while the foothills of the Pennines rise just beyond it.
