Borehamwood is a town in Hertfordshire, just north of London. It is accessible to both Cambridge and Oxford in just over an hour by car, however it is also the closest town in Hertfordshire to London making it a commuter's paradise.
About 30,000 people live in Borehamwood and the town is is probably most famous for its attachment to Elstree, home of Elstree studios, where TV shows such as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Big Brother were filmed.
In the Victorian times Borehamwood was little bigger than a hamlet, but when the film industry arrived to the town in the 1910s it rapidly grew. It now also has a good selection of shops, churches and schools.
There are many groups for locals to get involved with including the British Legion, The Borehamwood Football Club and Borehamwood Spiritual Centre.
