The X1 is BMW's smallest and latest addition to the ever popular crossover market. You only have to drive the X1 for a few minutes to know that BMW have worked their magic once again. The steering is responsive, providing great feedback to the driver and grip levels are excellent meaning it feels smooth and agile in the corners. Despite some models being four wheel drive, don't be fooled into thinking the X1 is a serious mud plugger, with limited off road ability it is best viewed as an "urban 4x4". The X1 from the outside appears to be a big car but strangely there isn't as much space inside as you might expect and quality levels are disappointingly low, despite being a premium car with a substantial price tag. On the plus side all the engines on offer are smooth and refined, especially the excellent turbo-diesels that will regularly return 50+mpg.
