This settlement, located between towns Wallington and Croydon, was once the romantic setting where in 1591 Sir Walter Raleigh secretly married Elizabeth Throckmorton who was Queen Elizabeth the 1st's maid of honour.
Today it is appreciated by wildlife and bird enthusiasts who use the park as a major migration watch point. It also boasts the largest breeding population of Tree Sparrow in the UK as well as having over 500 breeding territories of nearly 60 breeding species. The park is popular with joggers and cross country runners for its diverse terrain which includes a lake and woods.
Beddington has several takeaways, barbers and convenience stores, however for a greater selection of shops Wallington town centre is a just a walk away, and even larger still is Croydon, just a bus ride away where there are plenty of restaurants, bars and high street shops.
