Arbroath or Aberbrothock is the largest town in Angus, Scotland. This is a town known for its history. With settlements dating back to the Iron Age, many stories can be told in Arbroath.
A significant period was the founding of the Arbroath Abbey, in 1178 which still remains today. The town's popularity grew during the Industrial Revolution which allowed for the expansion in the city. This expansion included a new harbour built in 1839. This harbour is still in use, with Arbroath becoming one of the largest fishing ports on Scotland. The coast also attracts tourists with its Seafront Spectacular which includes an air show.
The town is also memorable for the Declaration of Arbroath, which gave Scotland independence in 1320. A re-enactment of this has attracted tourists over the years.
