During the industrial revolution, Altrincham in Cheshire became known for the manufacture of textiles and later, machine tools. Today Trafford's largest town, Altrincham benefits from substantial redevelopment, which has brought new jobs and amenities.
Around 40,000 people live in Altrincham. The town offers a good mix of specialist shops and high street stores, including the Goose Green shopping village, as well as a variety of weekly open-air markets. An integrated train, bus and tram network serves Altrincham, and there are also excellent rail and motorway links to nearby Manchester. The airport is only 15 minutes away.
