Aixam is a car but it isn't a car. In 1983, Aixam started to produce its series of microcars or Mega in the spa town of Aix-les-Bains in France. The company currently produces the Aixam A.7XX or its microcar series. This is powered by the little Kubota diesel engine and is a bit like the Smart car in some ways but in Britain it is classified as a category L7E or as a quad bike! In some European countries because of the smaller models are restricted to 45 km/h (30 mph) it can be driven without a driver's licence. The Aixam is a far-reaching range of cross over vehicles. There are agents and dealers for this popular range all over the world from Great Britain to Guadaloupe and from Greece to New Caledonia and the smaller models are popular in Europe where you don't need a licence in countries such as Estonia, Portugal, and Spain.
