Have you heard of it? Well, if you're a car enthusiast, you will be immediately thinking of the oh-so-sleek AC Cobra. This fantastic car snaked up to 164 mph on the newly opened British M1 motorway in 1964. It also outraged the police and government alike with its audacious speed. What a beauty. But how did it first get on the road? Well, when John Weller an engineer met a rich butcher and businessman John Portwine in 1901, they set up a humble workshop in south London and went about creating the marque. The brand has struggled over recent years but seems to have overcome some of its production issues, so that manufacturing in the UK will continue at the new AC Heritage Centre in Surrey. The centre, which is owned by classic car fan Steve Gray, is in charge of production of the Cobra MkII classic aluminium, which is the company's most expensive car at around 150,000.
